Is This Dog Microchip Scanner Worth Buying?

The Dear Taste pet microchip reader is useful for checking whether a compatible dog microchip still responds and noting where the strongest reading appears. It worked quickly during my home checks and was easy to recharge with a USB-C cable.

However, this device has a narrow purpose. It cannot track your dog, show an exact anatomical location, or determine whether a migrated chip is medically dangerous. Pet microchips are identification devices, not GPS trackers.

The Dog and Home Testing Conditions

It may not be worthwhile for owners who only want an annual confirmation. A veterinary clinic can perform that check during a wellness visit, and professional scanners may support more chip formats.
