Tried Giving Louie Immune Shield Plus Dog Treats for His Joints

Louie, our Yorkshire Terrier born in 2023, is now a lively 19-month-old pup. Just recently, while I was holding him on the bed, he tried to jump up and suddenly yelped—then started lifting his right leg. I let him rest, and the next day we visited the vet. The vet said it’s basically safe to say Louie is at stage 2 of patellar luxation.

As his guardian, I was shocked and filled with guilt. The timing made it worse, since I myself was about to undergo surgery and couldn’t give Louie the attention he needed.

Louie has occasionally been taking Antinol Rapid since we first heard he might be at stage 1, but now I knew I had to seriously commit to a better care routine. That’s when I came across a supplement treat called Immune Shield Plus—and decided to give it a try.

🦴 Closer Look at Immune Shield Plus Dog Treats

The treats come in a clean, resealable aluminum pouch.
They looked a bit dark, and since I’m still recovering from surgery and can’t smell anything, I couldn’t tell what they smelled like. But Louie rushed over the moment I opened it—so I’m guessing it had a meaty scent.

The product contains duck meat, though I wasn’t focused on the flavor at all. I chose it based purely on the joint-friendly ingredients.

While glucosamine is popular, I’m particularly optimistic about MSM. I can't be 100% sure how effective it is for dogs, but I’ve seen great results in humans.

🔍 What Do the Treats Look Like?

They’re bigger than I expected. The recommended dosage seems to be about one piece per kilogram of body weight. I gave Louie three pieces.

They break apart easily and are a bit chewy. Because they retain moisture, I recommend storing them in a cool, dry place.

🧠 There Are Several Variants to Choose From

We chose the joint health version due to Louie’s young age and his knee condition, but they also offer versions for eye health, immune support, and cognitive function.

💡 Tip: Be sure to review the ingredient list carefully and choose the one that best suits your dog’s needs.

📌 One note of caution:
Since I was in a rush ahead of my surgery, I didn’t review the full ingredient list properly. While it contains beneficial nutrients, there are also ingredients like soy protein, rice, oats, tapioca, glycerin, preservatives, and food coloring—which I don’t entirely love.

Honestly, I initially thought, “It’s fine, I’m getting a cashback anyway,” but later I realized I had to pay overseas shipping myself... 😅

🐶 Louie Tries Immune Shield Plus

Louie really liked them.

I’m not sure if it’s because it’s his first time trying this kind of treat, or because he loves duck, but he gobbled them up.

He’s not the kind of dog who loves all meats, so his enthusiasm tells me the palatability is definitely high.

💬 Final Thoughts on Immune Shield Plus Dog Treats

At a time when I’m physically vulnerable, the last thing I want is for Louie to become unwell too. I’ve become extra cautious—especially about what he eats.

So even though I like the MSM and other beneficial ingredients, I won’t be giving him more of these treats regularly. I just can’t overlook the less-than-ideal components like artificial preservatives and coloring.

That said, this doesn’t mean it’s a bad product.
If you check out their product page, you’ll clearly see that this is a functional treat packed with high-quality nutrients.
