Louie still occasionally marks indoors. It’s not frequent, but since our home is spacious, I sometimes use a belly band when I can't watch him closely. That said, marking is instinctual—Louie is actually a very tidy bathroom user.
We started potty training with pee pads, then transitioned through a few products: Doktok, silicone mats, and eventually landed on Dogslow. I’ll walk you through why we chose Dogslow and how we use it.
Why a Good Potty Setup Matters
Every dog household needs a reliable potty solution. Establishing clean bathroom habits is essential for your dog’s health and your home’s hygiene. The right potty tray helps both the dog and the owner.
Dogslow is a well-known option among pet parents, and since Louie started using it, his potty space has stayed much cleaner.
We Use Three Dogslow Trays at Home
We have three Dogslow potty trays:
-
One in the study room corner
-
One at the end of the living room
-
One in the bathroom
The two in the common areas are used as tray models—we place pee pads on top. The one in the bathroom is used with the slide option, so liquids drain directly into the shower.
All three are beige, which blends naturally with our home’s interiors. The sleek Dogslow design doesn’t stand out or clash with decor.
Dogslow Tray — Living Room Setup (Tray Model)
-
The mesh top helps avoid nail snags.
-
Underneath is a drainage hole that guides liquids to the bottom tray.
-
The tray slides out like a drawer for easy cleaning.
💡 Since it’s not in the bathroom, I place pee pads inside instead of rinsing it directly.
Dogslow Tray — Bathroom Setup (Slide Model)
-
The base has openings for the slide, but you don’t insert it—it just rests in place.
-
Water flows through the slide, and you can adjust its direction.
💡 At first, I tried fitting the slide into the grooves, but it kept falling out. I contacted Dogslow—they confirmed it should simply be placed flat on the floor.
Louie Using the Dogslow Tray
Pee Time
Louie takes a little while to find the right spot.
Poop Time
It takes him even longer to get in position 😅
Afterwards
He happily lounges nearby—it’s a clean and stress-free experience for him.
Pros of the Dogslow Potty Tray
-
Design: Simple, modern, and discreet. The beige shade melts into the room.
-
Hygiene: Keeps smells down and cleans easily—especially in slide mode in the bathroom.
-
Durability: Built to last. I think Louie could use it for life.
Cons to Keep in Mind
-
Price: It’s on the expensive side.
-
Adjustment Period: Your dog may need time to get used to stepping up. We started with pee pads on top, then removed them later.
-
Size Limit: Suitable for small to medium dogs only. Louie’s use shows it wouldn’t work well for larger breeds.
-
Tray Depth: When using as a tray, it’s not very deep—liquid can spill during cleaning. (This isn't an issue when using the slide.)
What kind of potty solution does your dog use?
Let me know what’s worked (or hasn’t) for you and your pup.
