Tried and Recommended: Honeycomb Chews for Dogs – Louie’s Honest Review

Louie, our 16-month-old Yorkshire Terrier, gets his teeth brushed morning and night. But on days when brushing falls short, he also enjoys a dental chew. Today’s feature? The Honeycomb Chew—a product we tried, tested, and genuinely liked. Here's why we recommend it.

Why Do Dogs Need Dental Chews?

Today, Louie had to skip a proper brushing (thanks to the disaster in our previous post), so he chewed on Honeycomb Chew M (Pollock) and S (Chicken) instead.

Dental chews help with:

Gum stimulation: Chewing improves oral circulation and overall gum health.
Plaque and tartar: They help reduce buildup on the surface of teeth.
Bad breath: Many dog parents worry about this—chews help control it. Louie? No bad breath here!
Mental comfort: Chewing relieves stress and calms dogs naturally.

Louie’s Review: Honeycomb Chew Chicken S & Turkey S

Both are S size, but the Turkey one is tougher and less honeycomb-shaped. Louie only eats it when cut into tiny pieces, so it’s not ideal for small dogs. Turkey might be higher quality, but chicken wins in palatability.

Louie’s Review: Honeycomb Chew Pollock M vs Chicken S

Pollock M is much larger and has bigger honeycomb holes. Louie prefers the Chicken S and refused the pollock after tasting it, suggesting a stronger preference.

Why Recommend Honeycomb Chew?

Honeycomb Design: Unique shape helps scrape teeth and holds toothpaste well if used together.
Non-Sticky: Dissolves easily in water and doesn’t leave sticky residue.
Flavors and Sizes: Available in S and M, with chicken, turkey, pollock, and veggie options.

⚠ Caution:
It contains small amounts of vegetable glycerin and potassium sorbate, and it’s not human-grade. Despite that, it’s currently one of the better options out there. If a better product emerges, we’ll post an update.

Louie’s Real Reaction

🍗 First time tasting Pollock M—he was hooked.
🥲 Turkey S? Smelled great, but too tough.

Louie definitely has a favorite.

Final Thoughts

Dental care is essential. Ideally, we’d brush our dog’s teeth three times a day—but two is already a stretch. That’s when dental chews help. While Honeycomb Chew isn’t perfect, it’s currently one of the better choices. In fact, it might be the only product with Sul Chae-hyun’s name on it that we actually like.
